Solution
I worked closely with product and engineering to determine the best form of communication where everyone would have line of sight throughout the design process. By implementing a new process in JIRA, I enabled my teams to work more efficiently and communication was much simpler. This process was so successful for my team, it has been implemented in other areas of the company.
Design specific epics
To implement a proper process, I begin by creating an Epic specifically for the design team. This will hold all the design stories for a specific project as well as scope docs and any one-pagers pertaining to the project.
